Update Re: NRCAN and Amendment 11 to the Engergy Efficiency Regulations - Impacted HS Codes
Amendment 11 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations comes into effect today. I.E.Canada has been provided with an unofficial list of HS Codes impacted by Amendment 11. These HS Codes are still in the process of being added to the ACROSS system and are being validated by the Canada Border Services Agency and therefore are subject to change. The list will not be final until CBSA has updated the ACROSS system. CBSA will make an announcement soon regarding when the HS Codes will become effective in ACROSS. In the meantime, Natural Resources Canada has established a temporary process for reporting the five data elements required on importation. Information with respect to this temporary process was provided in the April 10, 2012 issue of I.E.Today, as well as a copy of Customs Notice 12-012: Amendment 11 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations.
For a copy of the list of affected HS Codes, please contact Amanda Neadow, Director, Committees at aneadow@iecanada.com. Documentation with respect to implementation of the Amendment 11 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations, including copies of correspondence with NRCAN officials, is available in the Document Centre in the Members’ Only section of the I.E.Canada website under Implementation Amendment 11 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations. Information regarding Amendment 11 to the Energy Efficiency Regulations is available on the NRCAN website at http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/regulations/11239
