Man charged in stabbing deaths of trucker, guard |
A 34-year-old man is in jail today, charged with the Monday morning murders of a trucker and a security guard in at a car auction lot in Hayward, CA. The Mail Tribune reported that Karl George Sanft of Union City, CA, reportedly confessed to stabbing the two men to death.
One of the victims was OOIDA Member James Wightman, 56, of Central Point, OR. Police believe he witnessed the attack on the security guard on Monday, Feb. 1, and then was attacked in the cab of his truck.
Police arrested Sanft on Tuesday in a stolen car. They think he had gone to the auction lot to steal a car and was confronted by the security guard.
