The August 1st deadline is fast approaching and is top of mind for many Canadians.

Trump sent a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney on July 10, threatening to hit Canada with 35% tariffs on Aug. 1st if a new deal could not be reached. He is quoted as saying, ""I think Canada could be one where there's just a tariff, not really a negotiation."

Canada's Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc says Canada is going to continue working towards the August 1st deadline, but it must be a deal that is in the best interest of the Canadian economy and the Canadian worker.
