On August 1, 2025, the Canadian Government implemented two new surtaxes on certain steel and aluminum imports. The first is a TRQ (Tariff Rate Quota) surtax on steel goods, which imposes a 50% surtax on imports that exceed specific country- and product-level quotas. This Order was amended to now include FTA countries, with the exemption of the US and Mexico.
